Changing to Microsoft Authenticator App

Overview

The purpose of this document is to detail the process for changing the Office 365 multifactor authentication (MFA) method on your account from text message (SMS) to the mobile app notification. 
This document applies if you have used the authenticator app previously but have since ceased.   

App Installation


In order to set the app as the default method, you must have the Microsoft Authenticator app installed and configured on your mobile device:
If you already have the authenticator app installed and configured, please skip to the next title. 

  1. Go to the App Store (Apple Devices) or Play Store (Android Devices).
  2. Search for ‘Microsoft Authenticator'.
  3. Download and install the app then open it.
  4. Accept the privacy prompt. 
  5. Select 'Skip'.
  6. Select the icon.
  7. Then select ‘Work or school’ followed by ‘Sign in’.
  8. Sign in with your Fred Olsen account details.
  9. Select 'Continue' to complete the setup. 

Change default MFA method

  1. From your PC, log in here: https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info
  2. If prompted, verify your sign-in.
  3. Select ‘Change’ then select ‘App based notification – notification’ from the drop-down box and select ‘Confirm’ to complete:
